Synthetic fabric dye printing for ballet bodice of costume

After natural dyeing with pomegranate seeds, I wanted to experiment with synthetic dye to experiment further and still allow me to control the print of the dye.

I used cotton wool pads to apply the magenta hue to the fabric of the bodice; I dipped the cotton wool pad into the dye and then creased the cotton wool pad into a leaf/flower pattern and then placed onto the fabric and dipped the cotton wool pad into the dye again once the cotton wool pad started to dry up.IMG_5943

This picture shows the bodice being printed, I really like how the pattern printed delicately onto the bodice and isnt too harsh. The hue is delicate and pretty and reminds me of the samples of natural dyeing with pomegranate samples; the pattern on bpdice also makes the bodice for interesting as you notice something different every time you look at the costume.
